Visiting Saklikent Gorge …

Yesterday was a nothing day. Nothing to report. I caught up on some sleep in the afternoon. Then l went out for an early dinner.

I did mange earlier in the day to book a sightseeing trip for today. I’m visiting a waterfall and a gorge.

A Google earth screen shot to the area I’ll be visiting.

A photo taken along the walk to the waterfall.

We had to trek upstream in cold water to reach the water fall.

A photo of me at the waterfall.

A quick dash through the waterfall.

It was cold!

Another photo at the waterfall showing the vegetation.

Then a short car ride to the gorge. The walk started on a narrow elevated walkway.

A quick selfie

At this stage the water was really clear and cold.

At one point there was a seat in the stream.

A photo showing another section of the gorge.

At this point the water had a muddy tint to it. People have been using the mud rather than a spray paint can to leave their message and hand prints on the gorge.

Another photo showing the mud “graffiti”.

Finding our way along the gorge.

Another photo of the gorge.

Then a photo of me at the end point of our walk

The walk beyond this point became a lot more challenging requiring a different level of guide to tackle the next sections.

Then back to the car for another short ride to have lunch. A quick selfie with one of the many ducks that wanted to join us for lunch.

Once you give in to one duck they multiply.

I get the sense l’m being checked out.

They certainly liked the rice l gave them.

They even had a crack at the wedge of lemon. Then after lunch we had a short car ride to see the ancient ruins of Xanthos.

We only saw the ruins from the road.

Ruins of the ancient theatre

A photo of what l guess is the entrance to the theatre.

There is a bit of a sad story behind the ancient ruins. As the story goes, the city was about to be over run by the Persians.

Instead of surrendering to the Persians the people of the city decided to burn themselves. Men, women, children and slaves all perished by fire.

Then we headed for a small beach that had sand!

We spent two hours there and l went for swim in the cool water. A quick selfie after my swim.

I spent some time in the sun but eventually decided to find somewhere in the shade. I also decided to have a cherry gelato ice cream.

Then back to Kas.
