After the long walk yesterday I slept fairly well for a change. I got up and had breakfast around a bit after 8:30am.
Then back to the room to clean my teeth and think about what to do for the day. I need a day if rest l think.
So l headed to place l had lunch the first day l arrived in Gelibolu. I settled down to a coffee and a slice of raspberry cheesecake. Then l started working on finishing the Gallipoli blog page.
As l was working my way through the various photos to tell the story I began to realise that what l read along the way yesterday reflected the Turkish view of the Gallipoli campaign.
What really impressed me was the fact the wording was free of real negative or demonising the Australians. What came across was a real healthy respect if one another as people and as soldiers.
I feel l need to post the below to serve as an illustration of what l saw and felt.

After completing my blog page which was a bit after 2pm l headed back to the hotel where I l’m staying. My thought was time to take a nanna nap. But when l walked in l was greeted by the owner. He wanted to take me out to visit a few places in Gelibolu.
It wasn’t long and l was on the back of his scooter and we were off into the central area of Gelibolu.

We first went to visit the historic tractor museum.

Apparently, there was over 75 tractors showing their history in the area. However, the place was shut because it was the Republic Day of Turkey holiday.
So he took me a short walk down the street to visit a Gallipoli museum.

This 3D map shows the steep terrain the ANZACs had to contend with. A photo showing the location of the battleships of the English and other nations supporting the Gallipoli campaign.

A photo showing ok’d bullet casings.

Remains of artillery shells.

And the sniper rifle set up

We then walked a little further down the street for coffee. Communication was primarily by the phone translator app.

There is two was to use the app. 1/ by dictation or 2/ by typing in the words. It’s a bit of a struggle for the app with me. I tend to run my words together or my fat fingers get in the way!
This us it from me for today!
