A lazy start to Sunday. Then off for another look around the country side. Emer took me out to see Parke’s Castle.
But before we arrived we quickly stopped to look along Colgalg Lough.

Then along a narrow windy road to Parke’s Castle.

Parke’s Castle is on the shores of Lough Gill.

We sat through a short video that explained the cultural significance of the area and its many ancient buildings and Celtic burial sites.
Then out into the centre of the Castle’s grounds.
Repairs are being undertaken on the thatched roof of one of the buildings within the castle’s walls.

There were only Emer and l and the tour guide. He explained history of the castle. It was a very interesting tour.
A photo from within the castle.

A photo from up on the wall looking over Lough Gill in the general direction of Sligo.

I couldn’t resist taking a selfie in one of the round corners of the castle.

My attempt at being artsy with my photo.

Then into an area displaying the Parke’s family.

The below photo shows the inner working of an Irish Tower House.

After visiting Parke’s Castle was headed vs k to collect Jacob and Rory and made our way to visit Glencar Waterfall.

A quick snap of me at the waterfall.

A photo of a tall and straight tree at the waterfall.

A photo looking across Lake Glencar towards Sligo.

A few more photos along the way.

A photo showing the western end of Benbulben.

That’s a wrap for today!
