Another average nights sleep! Up early to make my way down to McDonalds for an egg and bacon McMuffin breakfast.
McDonalds is very much the same as in Australia. The only real difference is this one was painted green rather than the colour scheme back home. One other difference l’ve noted is in Ireland you can never fully remove the cap on any drink bottle. I get the idea behind this but l find it annoying.

On my walk down to McDonalds, l happen to notice the faces of people in the street, particularly those waiting on the sidewalk for a bus or tram. They’re all plugged in to their earphones with a stare that’s hard to describe.
Maybe it’s just me looking for connection.
Dublin is very much a melting pot of different ethnicities.
People in Dublin don’t seem to care much for the green walking signal. They just simply walk across the road against the red walking signal.
I still struggle to learn the different unwritten rules of the sidewalk. Using the escalators requires one to stand still on the right side and keep the left side free for those who wish to walk up. In Australia, you stand still on the left side and leave right side free.
On my walk back to my lodgings I started to notice the sea gulls in Dublin seem twice the size of the sea gulls back home.

Finally, time has come for me to leave and make my way to Connolly train station.

It was around 1km walk from the place l was staying to Connolly train station. My ticket to Kilcock.

The train to Kilcock.

Settled in for the train ride

Leaving the grey sky of Dublin

There is a canal that runs along side the train line. I suspect the canal would have been used to transport goods back in the day.

A quick snap of a large power generation facility before Maynooth.

I made it to Kilcock with out any trouble.

Then l went off in search of a place for a bite of lunch and coffee. Over the canal from the Kilcock station and into town.

Apparently the canal has been operating since 1796.

A selfie down at lock 16 on the canal.

I managed to find a nice place in Kilcock for lunch.

I decided to have the Caesar chicken salad and a coffee. The salad was very tasty.

Then a wander around the narrow streets.

Kilcock has some interesting buildings.

Buildings fronting the canal

I met up with Emer at the train station car park. Now onto Sligo.
